PC Tricks: Shutdown your Computer with your Mobile Phone - Gizmos Review

Features of this Trick:

Using this trick the user can Shutdown, Restart, Hibernate PC, by just sending an email from the mobile phone.

Requirements:

Software: Microsoft Outlook which comes with Microsoft Office

Steps to follow....

Step 1: You need BATCH files (to shutdows etc. Creating BATCH files are easy.)

Step 2: Open a Text editor, ordinary NOTEPAD will do.

Step 3: Type the following...

C:\Windows\System32\Shutdown -s -f -t 00

And save it as "shutdown.bat".

Step 4: Now open Microsoft Outlook Express. (Make Sure you have already configured it for youy email). Now we will need to make it so that Outlook checks your inbox about every minute (1 minute for testing time can be increased if a delayed shutdown is desired).

Step 5: If not, Do this by Selecting Tools -> Options ->Mail Setup Tab -> Send/Receive Button.

Step 6: Make sure the Schedule an Automatic Send/Receive Every.... box is checked. Set the Number of minutes to 1. (You may close all the other dialog boxes).

Step 7: Go to Tools ->Rules and Alerts.

Step 8: Click the options button in the upper right hand corner and press the Import Rules button.

Step 9: Select the "shutdown.bat" file (which you have created)

Step 10: When you send a message from your phone to your e-mail address with the subject shutdown or sms shutdown%%, your computer will shutdown.
