Unlocking Apple iPhone and other smart phones not Legal
The DMCA against law to unlocking smart phones like Apple
iPhone without a carrier’s permission is effective from today 26th
Jan 2013, in the United States. The law which was passed last year in the month
of October will be effective from today.
Official Statement from Library of Congress
Having duly considered and accepted the Recommendation of
the Register of Copyrights that the prohibition against circumvention of
technological measures that effectively control access to copyrighted works
shall not apply to persons who engage in non-infringing uses of certain classes
of copyrighted works, the Librarian of Congress is exercising his authority to publish
a new rule designating classes of copyrighted works that shall be subject to
statutory exemption.
EFFECTIVE DATE:
October 28, 2012.
